Trish Odenthal - Architectural Lighting Designer

Trish Odenthal

"I love lighting because it is three-dimensional.  Envisioning how lighting will reveal architecture and spaces is an exciting part of the design process. Understanding that we do not see light until it strikes a surface is critical to good lighting design.  It is satisfying to select the right equipment for each project."

After graduating from San Francisco's Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design with a three-year degree in Interior Design and Color, Trish finished her formal training with Theatrical Lighting at San Francisco State University. Her education focused heavily on the design elements combinined with the drama and technical applications of theatre lighting, providing a strong foundation for dramatic and elegant lighting solutions.

IES MissionTrish has been leading our lighting community in professional development by serving five terms as President of the Illuminating Engineering Society's Mission Section, (IES) and building and maintaining their website.

Current projects include commercial and residential lighting, new fixture designs, and researching and developing her new website: Passionate about beauty and art Trish focuses her spare time on enjoying lighting, architecture, interiors, fashion, museums, botanic gardens, yoga, martial arts, motorcycles, and travel. See Travel section for photos taken on her adventures.

"My intense curiosity continues to drive me to study lighting solutions everywhere I go, analyzing the equipment, installations, and wiring methods. Some of these observations are featured in our Travel section."
